New Delong X5000S + Smart Flatbed Cuts Braking Distance 5%, Targets 20,000 Sets in 2025
Xi’an, China — 18 October 2025 — SHACMAN and CIMC Vehicle Group today unveiled the third-generation integrated tractor-trailer, a Delong X5000S 15NG CNG tractor married to a 13.5-metre smart flatbed. Full-load tests show braking distance shortened by 1.8 metres (≈5%) and fuel cost reduced 2.3L/100km versus a non-integrated 49-ton combination, setting a new benchmark for China’s logistics market seeking safer, greener and cheaper road transport.
1. One-Box Electronics — tractor & trailer talk the same language
A single EBS/ESC control unit now governs both tractor ABS and trailer modulator, eliminating signal lag. When the driver hits the brake, the trailer’s air-chamber pressure is adjusted within 40ms, cutting stopping distance and tyre wear. The set also shares a common CAN bus, allowing SHACMAN’s fleet-telematics box to read trailer load, tyre pressure and brake-pad life in real time.
2. Lightweight + Low-Roll — 298kg off, 0.3ton more payload
The tractor uses SHACMAN’s 800-MPa high-strength frame and aluminium fuel tanks, while CIMC’s flatbed adopts 700-MPa steel plus plastic side boards. Total tare is only 12.8t, 298kg lighter than a conventional combo, letting hauliers load an extra 0.3ton of cargo within the 49-ton GCW limit. Side-skirts and low-roll tyres lower drag coefficient by 6%, saving ≈2.3L diesel equivalent per 100km.
3. CNG power — 530hp, 2,500N·m, 50% thermal efficiency
The X5000S tractor is equipped with Weichai’s WP15NG engine rated at 530hp and 2,500N·m, meeting China-VIb and delivering 50% brake-thermal efficiency. Annual fuel-cost saving is estimated at USD2,600 per truck (20,000km/year, gas price USD0.7/kg).
4. Customer uptake — 20,000sets target for 2025
At the launch ceremony SHACMAN and CIMC signed an MOU with Speed-Line Logistics for 500 sets in 2024-2025. “Integrated braking gives us confidence on Yunnan’s mountain routes, and the 0.3-ton extra payload is pure profit,” said Zhao Hua, General Manager of Speed-Line. The partners target 20,000 integrated combos in 2025, equal to 4% of China’s annual new semi-trailer demand.
5. After-sales & certification
The combo carries a unified 36-month/300,000km warranty. Both tractor and trailer share parts numbers for brake pads, sensors and fasteners, cutting fleet inventory 15%. The vehicle has passed GB/T 12676 and ECE R13 braking tests, laying a foundation for export to ASEAN and Middle-East markets.
