Shacman Heavy-Duty Truck Exports Accelerate: Deepened Global Layout, New Energy and High-End Products Become New Engines

Against the backdrop of the continuous release of global commercial vehicle market demand and the increasing competitiveness of “Made in China”, Shacman Heavy-Duty Truck has recently achieved another success in its export business – with export volume exceeding 14,000 units in the first quarter of 2025. It has continued its strong growth momentum in recent years, becoming one of the leading forces in the “going global” journey of Chinese heavy-duty trucks, and its global footprint and product competitiveness are accelerating.​

 

Steadily Rising Export Scale, Covering Over 140 Countries Globally​

As a long-established enterprise in China’s heavy-duty truck industry, Shacman’s export journey can be traced back to 1988, when 13 “Yan’an brand” off-road vehicles crossed the national border for the first time, laying the foundation for its global development. After more than 30 years of in-depth cultivation, Shacman’s overseas layout has now formed a pattern of “blooming in multiple places”: it has established sales networks in more than 140 countries around the world, set up 40 overseas offices, and simultaneously matched with a complete service and spare parts system, realizing the full-chain coverage of “pre-sales consultation – in-sales delivery – after-sales support”.​

By the end of 2024, Shacman had exported a total of over 360,000 vehicles. This figure not only confirms its profound accumulation in the overseas market but also reflects the recognition of global customers for the quality of Shacman’s products. Since the start of 2025, Shacman’s heavy-duty truck exports have continued to achieve a “good start”. The export volume of 14,000 units in the first quarter has maintained steady growth compared with the same period of previous years. Among them, the order growth in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and some European markets is particularly significant, becoming the core regions driving exports.​

 

New Energy and High-End Products Make Breakthroughs, Breaking Technical Barriers in Overseas Markets​

Different from the traditional heavy-duty truck export path that relies on “cost performance”, Shacman has taken “technology going global” as its core strategy in recent years, and new energy and high-end intelligent products have become the “golden key” to opening up overseas markets. In May 2025, the first batch of hydrogen fuel heavy-duty trucks from Proton Motors, a subsidiary of Shacman, was successfully shipped to Australia. This makes Shacman the first Chinese enterprise to realize the mass production and export of hydrogen fuel heavy-duty trucks, marking that Shacman’s technical strength in the field of new energy heavy-duty trucks has been recognized internationally.​

The exported hydrogen fuel heavy-duty trucks are equipped with an industry-leading mass-produced 240kW hydrogen fuel system and a new-generation electric drive axle, with a maximum range of 500 kilometers. At the same time, they are equipped with intelligent safety configurations such as AEBS (Automatic Emergency Braking System) and driver status monitoring. All indicators meet or even exceed the strict local standards in Australia. At the launching ceremony, Proton Motors also signed an intention agreement for the export of 20 hydrogen fuel heavy-duty trucks with Australian partners, laying the foundation for further exploring the Australia-New Zealand new energy heavy-duty truck market in the future.​

In the field of high-end intelligence, Shacman has also made breakthroughs. The world’s first mass-produced unmanned freight heavy-duty truck “Yaoling Ⅱ” launched in August 2025 is not only equipped with an L4-level autonomous driving system and a comprehensive perception network composed of 32 lidars but also has become the first Chinese heavy-duty truck to obtain the EU autonomous driving certification. This certification has cleared the obstacles for Shacman’s heavy-duty trucks to enter the EU and overseas markets that adopt EU standards. At present, some European logistics enterprises have expressed their intention to cooperate, and small-batch delivery is expected to be realized within this year.​

 

“One Country, One Truck” for Precise Adaptation, Localized Services Enhance Customer Stickiness​

To meet the differentiated needs of different overseas markets, Shacman launched the “One Country, One Truck” product strategy as early as 2018, customizing exclusive vehicle models according to the climate, road conditions, and transportation scenarios of the target markets. In the Middle East, facing the environment with frequent high temperatures and sandstorms, Shacman’s developed X3000 all-wheel-drive desert tractors, relying on their hard-core performance of high-temperature resistance and sandstorm resistance, have successfully replaced the local traditional European truck products, and their market share has increased year by year. In the field of port logistics, the offset port tractors customized by Shacman have entered international large ports such as Jeddah Port in Saudi Arabia, Busan Port in South Korea, and Felixstowe Port in the UK, becoming the “Chinese benchmark” in port logistics.​

Beyond products, Shacman attaches great importance to the construction of overseas localized service capabilities. In the Southeast Asian market, Shacman has cooperated with local distributors to establish a “24-hour emergency service center” to ensure the timeliness of spare parts supply and maintenance response. In the African market, it has launched a “technical training program” to train professional maintenance personnel for the local area, which not only solves the after-sales concerns of customers but also creates employment opportunities for the local area. This dual guarantee of “products + services” has continuously enhanced Shacman’s customer stickiness in the overseas market. In 2024, the repurchase rate of overseas old customers increased by 15% year-on-year.​

 

Leading Enterprise Drives the Industrial Chain to Go Global, Assisting the Upgrade of “Made in China”​

Shacman’s export growth is not a “solo effort”, but it takes the role of a “chain leader” to drive the domestic heavy-duty truck industrial chain to go global in a coordinated manner. Its joint venture, Xi’an Zhide Auto Electronics, provides independently controllable electric drive systems for Shacman’s new energy heavy-duty trucks and also supplies products to overseas commercial vehicle enterprises. Xi’an Cummins Engine has developed 10L and 13L engines that meet Euro III and Euro V emission standards for the overseas market. In the first half of 2025, the sales volume of engines supporting Shacman’s exports increased by 50.52% year-on-year, becoming an important support for the export business.​

With the continuous deepening of Shacman’s heavy-duty truck export business, it has not only won a global market share for itself but also promoted the upgrade of China’s heavy-duty truck industrial chain from “product output” to “technology output” and “standard output”. A relevant person in charge of Shaanxi Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology said that as a leading enterprise in Shaanxi’s automobile industry, Shacman’s export performance has a demonstration significance for the “going global” of the province’s automobile industry. In the future, it will continue to support enterprises such as Shacman to deepen their global layout and help Chinese heavy-duty trucks gain more voice in the global market.​

Looking forward to the future, a relevant person in charge of Shacman Heavy-Duty Truck said that it will further increase investment in the overseas market, plan to add 5 new overseas regional centers in 2025, focus on expanding the European new energy heavy-duty truck market and the Southeast Asian intelligent logistics vehicle market, and strive to achieve an annual export volume of over 50,000 units, continuing to write a new chapter in the “going global” of Chinese heavy-duty trucks.
