Accra, Ghana – Shacman, a global leader in heavy-duty commercial vehicles, has significantly expanded its footprint in Ghana, becoming a key player in the country’s infrastructure and mining sectors. As Ghana accelerates projects under its National Infrastructure Development Plan, Shacman’s tailored heavy-duty trucks—especially the F3000 series—have gained widespread adoption, supported by localized services that address local operational needs.
F3000 Series: The Workhorse for Ghana’s Key Sectors
In Ghana’s bustling construction industry,Shacman’s F3000 dump trucks and concrete mixers are now staples on sites like Accra’s road expansion projects and Tema’s port upgrade. The F3000 dump truck, with its 340-420hp Weichai engine and 25-ton payload capacity, handles Ghana’s red clay roads and rainy-season mud with ease. “We’ve deployed 15 F3000 dump trucks on our Accra-Tema motorway project, and they’ve cut haul time by 25%,” said John Agyekum, project manager at a leading Ghanaian construction firm. “Even in heavy rains, the trucks don’t get stuck—something our old fleet struggled with.”
Mining operations in the Ashanti and Western Regions also rely on the F3000. Its dust-resistant air filtration system protects engines from mineral dust, a major issue in Ghana’s gold and bauxite mines. “Our F3000s run 12-hour shifts in Obuasi’s gold mines, and maintenance costs are down 30% compared to European brands,” noted a mining fleet supervisor.
Localized Support: Building Trust Beyond Vehicles
To ensure seamless operations, Shacman partnered with Ghana’s Auto Parts Ghana Ltd. to launch a dedicated service center in Accra in 2023. The center stocks 85% of critical parts for the F3000 series, offers 24/7 on-site repairs, and trains local technicians. “When one of our F3000’s hydraulic pumps failed, Shacman’s team arrived within 24 hours with a replacement—no 2-week wait for imports,” Agyekum added.
Shacman also runs driver training programs tailored to Ghana’s roads, teaching skills like navigating potholes and managing heavy loads in high temperatures. “These training sessions reduced our accident rate by 18%,” said a logistics company owner in Kumasi.
Growing Market Share and Future Plans
Shacman’s focus on quality and local support has paid off: its market share in Ghana’s heavy-duty truck segment grew from 8% in 2022 to 15% in 2024, with over 800 units sold. Looking ahead, Shacman plans to expand its service network to Kumasi and Takoradi, targeting the mining and agricultural logistics sectors.
“Ghana is a priority market for Shacman,” said Li Wei, Shacman’s Africa Regional Director. “We’ll keep refining our trucks to fit local needs—like adding corrosion-resistant parts for coastal areas—and strengthen our local team to better serve Ghana’s growing economy.”
As Ghana continues to invest in infrastructure and mining, Shacman’s commitment to reliability and localization positions it as a trusted partner in the country’s development journey.
