SHACMAN, a top-tier Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer, is reshaping the global heavy-duty truck landscape in 2025 through hydrogen fuel cell innovation, strategic partnerships, and its flagship Blu Sky™ sustainability program. The company’s new energy sales soared 343.5% year-on-year in January 2025, with proton motors—its new energy subsidiary—on track for 300% full-year growth.

Hydrogen Trucks Make Historic Global Debut
A landmark achievement came in May 2025 when Proton Motors exported its first batch of hydrogen-powered heavy trucks to Australia, becoming China’s first enterprise to mass-export developed-market-certified hydrogen trucks. The 20-truck letter of intent signed with Australian partners will target mining, port logistics, and intercity transport, paired with localized refueling infrastructure. These trucks feature a proprietary fuel cell system with 60% energy efficiency and -30℃ cold-start capability, plus supermaterial components that cut weight by 50% and reduce noise by 10dB.
In April, the same hydrogen model became the only foreign heavy-duty truck to earn Japan’s “Commercial Vehicle Electrification Promotion” certification, solidifying SHACMAN’s position in high-standard markets. “This merges our manufacturing heritage with Proton’s new energy leadership,” noted a SHACMAN executive.
Blu Sky™: Building a Green Ecosystem
Central to SHACMAN’s strategy is the Blu Sky™ Initiative, uniting suppliers, dealers, and customers to slash carbon footprints. Key actions include optimizing logistics routes, sourcing sustainable materials, and deploying “pure electric + hybrid + hydrogen” solutions tailored to scenarios like port operations and urban sanitation.
The initiative strengthened in April 2025 with the launch of “Zhihui”—a joint new energy brand with Weichai Fudi. Equipped with Weichai batteries and Hande electric drive axles, Zhihui trucks embody SHACMAN’s “golden supply chain” collaboration with CATL and BYD.
New Products & Global Projects
August 2025 saw the unveiling of the “Yaoling Ⅱ” concept truck, previewing L2 autonomous driving and intelligent fleet management. Meanwhile, SHACMAN secured major infrastructure contracts, including 350 trucks for Venezuela’s national railway project and 600 units for a regional construction initiative.
Its Asian production base—capable of 150,000 annual units—supports this expansion, while partnerships like the Hande Axles collaboration for the X6000 720HP gas truck advance efficiency.
Toward 2026 Goals
With 10% of China’s new energy heavy-duty market and growing global demand, SHACMAN plans L2 autonomous trucks next year and aims to expand hydrogen deployments in Europe and Southeast Asia. “We’re leading the transition to zero-emission logistics,” said Proton Motors’ Chairman Wang Zhao.
